Happy Birthday, Shu Yi.

Started off my Big Two-O with a run in the park. I have been exercising religiously this week (although only 3 days have gone by)- gym with Michie on Mon, badminton with Bena yesterday and a run today. Then breakfast at Mac's with Xinhui and Hong Ying (one quarter of my working-out gone). Went home, rest and read a book (Harry Potter & TOOP) while waiting for Reubs to come. Decided to get changed only when he arrived (he was nagging at me for lazing around the house and not getting ready) and off we go to celebrate my birthday! Yay!

We went to Marina Square and had lunch at Carl's Junior. Then we caught Die Hard 4.0. The movie was surprisingly good (as expected since Reubs was the one who insisted to watch the show). It's about some 3-step attack called "Firesale" or whatever on the US government. The attackers created havoc and instilled fear in the citizens by bringing down the traffic systems (they hacked into the IT system and changed all traffic lights to green at cross junctions), broadcasting on TV this (hilarious) video clip consisting of phrases and words cut out from various prominent US figures' speech so that when strung together, the sentences sounded threatening, cut off all electrical, water and utility supplies etc. Whatever, the movie mainly revolved around using IT and hacking to manipulate everybody and everything in US. Maybe I should've chosen IT as my specialisation. Maggie Q acted as a bad bitch, but she still sizzled whenever she appeared. HOT!

After the action-packed and Bruce-Willis-laden flick, we walked around Marina Square in an attempt to kill time before proceeding to dinner at Corduroy & Finch.

Corduroy & Finch is this lovely western restaurant tucked neatly at the corner of the row of shops along Sixth Avenue.

Soup of the Day: Some melon liquer cold stuff that tasted strangely like fish intestines (smelled them before). Disappointing.

Complimentary cocktail with Citibank card payment! Haha how can I miss out on FREE stuff? And good ol' Reubs allowed me to drink alcohol (while he had orange juice himself)!
Drink: Cosmopolitan. Nice!

Main: Catch of the Day- Pan fried salmon. Nice!

Reub's Main: I don't even remember the name of his dish, except that it's ribeye steak. But it's nice too!

Dessert: Chocolate Temptation- an assortment of chocolate desserts in small portions laid out before your eyes on a rectangular glass tray. This is a to-die-for chocolate ensemble!!

H.A.P.P.Y

The bill came and it was $1,040.16. Reubs had the shock of his life and he began to frantically recall what we had ordered that totalled the bill to over a thousand. That was when his senses came to him and he rechecked the receipt, only to discover the transaction wrongly keyed in (correct bill should've been $104.16). Woah, if he had signed the transaction bill!

After the satisfying and gratifying dinner (not forgetting the slight $1000 scare), Reubs went home with me to cut my birthday cake. Did I mention that my dear Father bought a chocolate cake from Jane's Cake Station on Sat and since it was recommended not to be kept for more than 3 days, he decided to take matters into his own hands and cut MY birthday cake on Tues morning for breakfast. How sweet. So I baked my OWN birthday cake in the afternoon, following one of the cake recipes from the many cook books my Mom 'kop' from her paper packaging factory. It's a White Chocolate & Yoghurt Cake. I should say myself that the cake tasted good, except that I had put it in the fridge straight after I finished the decorations and the cake became a tad hard today hahaha.
